Hello my lovelies!  Today I thought I would share with you some tips that I learned on a recent trek for the perfect red lipstick.  I’m usually one to stick with nude or very neutral colored lips, so going red and actually finding one I liked was definitely a huge feat for me.  And although I didn’t settle on one that I absolutely had to have, I have not given up on my search.  So once I find my match, I will definitely post an update to let you guys know.

These are some of the great tips I picked up from several makeup experts along my way:

If you have fair skin- Choose a red with coral undertones

If you have medium or golden skin- Choose a true red or shades with pink to cranberry undertones

If you have dark skin- Choose a deep red with burgundy or warm undertones

For application tips, try the following:

  1. Exfoliate your lips and apply lip balm before applying red lipstick to minimize the appearance of flakes and cracks on the lips
  2. Fill in lips with a matching lip liner first to make your color last longer
  3. Dot just the middle of your mouth with a clear lip gloss to add some depth and shine
  4. Outline the outside of your natural lip line with a highlighter/concealer and powder to prevent bleeding

Well I hope those tips help you out! ;)  Stay tuned for an update on my search for my own red lipstick.

Until next time my lovelies…  xoxo
